Holosun Eps Carry Glock 19 - My experience with Holosun dates back to when I joined my university's practical shooting team. As I began to practice my shooting skills more seriously, I realized that I would need to upgrade some of my equipment. My selection process up to that point involved sorting my eBay search by price and selecting an option on the first page. I needed to find good value optics, not just cheap ones. I found that Holosun filled that role well.

I think the main advantage of EPS over most micro red dots is that it has an enclosed emitter. Front and rear lenses keep moisture and dust out of the optics. I think this is such an improvement over the open emitter design that acts like an open debris cup while worn.

I mounted the EPS on my primary carry pistol, a Glock 19 MOS. It replaced the Holosun 407c. The EPS has a Holosun "K" series, so I used a C&H Precision plate to mount it on my MOS slide. The two screws that came with the C&H plate were a little long and needed to be sanded down, but it holds the optic plate well and fits the slide well.

Zeroing this optic was easy. I adjusted the dot to line up with the iron sights and then confirmed the zero on the sight. I made a few adjustments with a small screwdriver on my multi tool and was zero at 15 yards. Pitch and height are adjusted with flat head screws in 1.5 moa increments. A tool is provided.

There are a total of 12 brightness settings. The lowest four are intended for use with night vision and are too faint to be seen with the naked eye. I've found that level six of the daylight setting works in most situations. The light can be adjusted up or down with two buttons that fit on the left side of the optic. EPS also features Holosun's Shake Awake technology. This allows the optics to automatically turn off after a certain period of inactivity and at the slightest movement will turn on again with the same brightness setting. At first I was weary of the optics automatically turning off, but after years of using shake-wake optics, I see it as an advantage.

The brightness buttons are larger and easier to accidentally press than on previous models. Sometimes I would check the gun and find that the brightness level had changed. One solution to this is to lock the brightness controls by holding the + button for three seconds until the dot flashes. To unlock them, hold the + button for another three seconds.

With a reported 50,000 hour battery life and wake up, you won't need to change the battery very often and it's pretty easy when you do. The EPS uses a single CR1620 battery which can be accessed from the socket on the right side of the optic. No need to remove the optics and lose zero to change the battery.

The overall size of the EPS is on the smaller side. It's only slightly wider than the frame of my G19, and the tip of the optic is less than an inch from the slide. If I were grinding my EPS slide, instead of using an adapter plate, I could use standard height iron sights.

EPS has an IPX8 water resistance rating. That means it's certified to work for at least half an hour at a depth of 9.8 feet. I don't usually swim in a one piece, but I guess if you've been watching too much Shark Week and you're feeling uncomfortable, it might be an option for you.

Overall, I think these are good optics and a great addition to the Holosun product line. It's a great size for EDC and I have no problem keeping the image on the scope free of obstructions thanks to the closed emitter design. The $390 MSRP is about $100 more than the open emitter 407 red dot series, so you'll have to determine if it's worth the extra cost. Visit holosun.com to learn more about EPS or any other optics.

It's a place where prima donna media types like myself can play with new guns, gear and optics for a dime from the manufacturer. Among many new rifles and calibers, we also have equipment. Very nice optics, and Holosun has come out with two or three new optics for the pistol market. Remember how Holosun released the number configuration with AEMS? Well, they did the same with their new optics, the Holosun SCS and EPS.

The good news for you is that I understand the new optics and what they bring to an already crowded market. The Holosun SCS and EPS offer very capable pistol-sized red dots that do much more than most. They are innovating, expanding and pushing forward what a red dot gun should be.

For many, the Holosun SCS is the star of the show. It is a red dot that is intended for the full and compact red dot market. It is equipped with rifles such as Glock 19, Glock 45, Glock 17, IWI Masada and many others. The first question you probably have is what is an imprint?

Good question and I don't have the answer you want. The optics will be built based on the various prints currently on the market. For example, the Glock model will attach to MOS pistols without the need for a plate. A Holosun rep told us they have IWI Masada and HK models ready and will eventually expand to CZ, S&W and more.

SCS stands for Holsoun SCS stands for Solar Charging Sight. This little red dot uses nothing but solar power and an internal battery - no need to worry about 2032 or 1632 batteries. The internal battery lasts 20,000 hours, so you won't be defeated in low light situations.

The Holosun SCS will be fully charged by the solar panel and only has automatic brightness adjustment. I usually don't care for auto-adjust optics because they tend to get washed out with weapon lights. However, the Holosun SCS uses multiple sensors that talk to each other and adjust to the presence of weapon light.

A solid question. Holosun is known for its multi-thread system, and that is present here as well. You get a 2 MOA dot sight and a 32 MOA bullet with a 2 MOA dot sight. A very small single button controls the points and makes it easy to switch if you prefer one over the other. The Holosun SCS will also be available in red or green.

One of the big advantages of direct mounting a universal system like the MOS is how low the optics can sit. With a super low optic assembly, you can ditch the suppressor elevation sights. The Holosun SCS performed perfectly with the Glock elevation sights. Heck, the optic is specifically designed to match the design of the slide, so the Holosun SCS has serrations that match the Glock slide perfectly.

As we've come to expect, the reticle is crisp, clear and easy to see. I called a few small targets and called them over and over with the 32 MOA dot and the 2 MOA dot. Let's not forget the titanium housing that gives you solid and strong optics with a light weight.

The Holosun SCS was not the only new item at the show. I won't lie when I say I'm a little more excited about the next point. The new Holosun EPS joins the red dot ranks and aims to equip your small guns. You know those subcompact pistols, like the P365 series, Glock 43X/48 MOS and similar prints.

They fall under that Shield RMSc footprint and work perfectly on micro compacts. What they do differently than most other subcompact optics is use a sealed emitter. A sealed emitter means that nothing comes between the emitter and the piece of glass, so the reliability of the optic increases in the rain, snow and hellish sandstorms you might find yourself in.

Frankly, carrying an IWB every day excessively exposes your gun to dirt, hair, and debris. Any of these can slip between the emitter and the lens and cause all kinds of havoc. Holosun EPS offers a sealed emitter option for your subcompact pistol.

Holosun SCS may offer a lighter open emitter design, but EPS needs to go to hell and back. It's like the 509T, but much smaller and more compact. However, you get a solar panel,
